Ethos and Values

We are not going to preach what our values are, that would go against the open, transparent and collaborative approach we are trying to foster. We believe our values should reflect those of our staff, learners and parents, and evolve with the Academy and its community as it develops.

The Academy’s behaviour and routines will be rooted in the concepts and pursuit of:

  • Excellence
  • Respect
  • Innovation
  • Celebration
Sirius Academy aims to develop learners who:
  • are literate and who can access the full learner entitlement;
  • are numerate;
  • are confident and willing to take risks in their learning;
  • are actively supported and encouraged  in their learning by their families and peers;
  • are respected and who respect each other and their environment;
  • are individuals and yet belong and make an active contribution to a wider community;
  • are motivated to succeed and who enjoy learning and life at the Academy;
  • are ready to take their place in society;
  • are healthy, safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic well being;
  • have high aspirations for themselves and for their communities.
What will the Academy team promise you?
  • Learning and teaching will be relevant, flexible, accessible, challenging, enriching, enhancing, enjoyable and rewarding;
  • Every individual with whom we interact will be respected as of right and given an equal opportunity to reach their personal goals;
  • Our actions will support an ethos of integrity characterised by good communication, effective listening, openness, honesty and trustworthiness;
  • By working in conjunction with other parties we will set the highest standards of professionalism;
  • We will promote a culture which encourages and supports innovation, imagination, creativity and responsiveness to support the needs of learners and the wider community;
  • We will strive for continuous improvement in all aspects of our work through open debate, praise of our staff and sharing of good practice;
  • We will value and develop our purpose through the contributions of both individual and team work;
  • We will strive for excellence and learn from experience;
  • We will be looking for a partnership between school and parent in promoting the value of learning.
