What's the big difference?

Sirius Academy will encourage, engage and enrich the lives of its learners in terms of the way they study, the things they do outside of study and the place in which they all work together.

Sirius Life

Enrichment will take many different forms as a major part of every learner’s life. As well as the opportunity for a variety of sporting and performing arts activities, environmental science projects and access to the Learning Resource Centre, there are new approaches.

Each week, formal learning will be suspended for a collective games and activity afternoon, where learners participate in fun sessions which promote a different perspective on Academy life. This could include team sports, an opportunity to participate in developing clothes for a fashion show, or working in a partner primary school.

We will also make every effort to take time to integrate with the activities of the local communities.

Sirius Space

Gathering the Academy community together will be at the heart of developing our sense of identity, and assemblies will be a regular part of Academy life. On occasions year groups may be drawn together for age-appropriate learning, and on special occasions the whole Academy will come together to celebrate high-profile success.

To ensure our informal and thematic approach to learning and eating together, our Academy buildings will have to work hard. All spaces will be multi-use, fostering small and larger groups of learning and allowing social and informal activities at designated times, supported by our pastoral team.
