A bright new brand
Just like the name, the new Sirius Academy brand, has been developed with the help of Pickering's staff, students and parents.
Firstly a competition was launched in mid-June to design the new academy logo. Postcards detailing the competition were sent out to all Key Stage 3 students. This was followed by an online vote on the new design, before a shortlist was presented to a judging panel for the final decision.
Within the coloured icon, there is a visual reference to the positioning of the stars in a constellation, circling together to reach the point of the ‘top star – the dog star’ – the successful student.
Green is the color of nature. It symbolises growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety.
The two constellation paths represent the dual specialism of Sirius Academy (Sport & Science). The points within the inner constellation represent the students and the three schools which will make up Sirius Academy. The four points of the outer constellation represent those who will support the students in their route to success: Parents; Teachers; Community; Stakeholders.
